In Canada and the United States, June is adopt-a-cat month.

Looking for a pet? The Town of CBS now has a policy to cover the transaction.
The town will not charge for an adoption but it will require that the animal be spayed or neutered at the adoptees expense. And the Town will not make any cat or dog under the age of 6 weeks available [...]

On March 14, 2006 Ruff-Spots was invited to speak with the students of the Mount Pearl Senior High Animal Rights Group on Puppy Mills. It was a great chance for open discussion on this issue and the students were given educational handouts on Puppy Mills from the organization No Puppy Mills Canada (www.nopuppymillscanada.ca).
